In 1975 Barbara Slate created Ms. Liz, the first liberated woman cartoon character, with comic strips in Cosmopolitan, Self, New Woman, and animated in over 20 episodes on the Today Show.

Barbara Slate created, wrote and drew: Yuppies From Hell and Sweet XVI (MARVEL Comics), Angel Love (DC Comics), and her comic strips Ms. Liz, makin' Ends Meet and Violet.

Ms. Slate has written for MARVEL Comics over 50 issues of Barbie and Barbie Fashion, as well as the entire series of Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Pocahontas.

Her works have been exhibited in many art galleries and musem shows, including (on the East End of Long Island) Guild Hall Museum, the Elaine Benson Gallery, Renee Fotouhi Fine Art East, and the Arlene Bujese Gallery.
